Denver Siekman Environmental Park is hosting an “Everything Apple Contest” to help celebrate 4th of July.  Bring your favorite Apple Treat from one of the categories to Pendleton Art Center between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Friday July 2nd.  Judging will take place at 6:00 pm.  Announcement of the winners will be at 7:00 pm at the gazebo on the corner of Poplar and Main.
All apple items will be auctioned off beginning at 7:30 and becomes the property of Denver Siekman Environmental Park.
A winner will be selected from each category – Each winner will receive a $25 gift card from a Historic Downtown.

Return to those high school and college cross-country days with a challenging run on a hilly, all-grass course. If you can find an old pair of spikes, you might want to throw them in the car. Much of the course is tree-lined and shady, located along the Ohio River near Rising Sun, Indiana.

Directions to the Park:

From Cincinnati, take 1-275 to Lawrenceburg, IN exit. At stoplight turn left onto US 50 West to Aurora. Turn left to Hwy 56 (follow the riverboat signs) to Rising Sun, IN. At the 1st 4-way stop turn left, go one block and at the next 4-way turn right. Just as you cross the first bridge turn right (Hwy 56) and make the first right on Walston Road. The Park is on your right.
From Madison, take Hwy 56 to Vevay. In Vevay go straight through along the river, you are now on Hwy 56. Take Hwy 156 past Beltera Casino and Patriot, IN until you come to a flashing yellow light (approximately 25 miles). Turn left and the first right onto Walston Road. The park is on your right.

$12 pre-registration with T-shirt,
$10 high school runner pre-registration
$15 late registration and day of race with t-shirts as long as they last.

Awards:
Runners:

5K Overall male and female, top 2 in each age group: 12 and under, 13-14. 15-16, 17-19, 20-29, 30-39, 4049. 50-59, 60 and over. Master award given to overall male & female over 40.

Walkers:

5K Overall male and female. Top 2 walkers in each age group (male and female compete together) 19 and under 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over. Master award given to overall male & female over 40.

How does it work?

•    Participate as a runner or walker in four of the five SIRC races and you are eligible for cash awards.
•    Participate in all five races and your name goes in the drawing twice.
•    Cash awards of $200, $100 and $50 will be given in two categories: 19 and under and over 19
•    Cash awards are based on participation only, not performance
•    Drawing for cash awards will be held at the conclusion of the Bulldog Chase

Death in Them Thar Hills

This special 1880s murder mystery takes place near the Grand Canyon where prospector and gold mine owner “Dusty” Jones is being honored by the residents of Cactus Gulch. Jones had arrived in town five years before, flat broke and relying upon the generosity of local residents to help him get by. Today, he is the sole owner of the TAqIlA mine (He named it after his favorite drink, but Dusty never could spell).

Key citizens of Cactus Gulch have assembled to honor Dusty. Each one rises to say a few words about him and his contributions to the community. Then, it’s Dusty’s turn. After speaking his mind, Dusty raises a glass of Gila Gold, his favorite brand of tequila. He sits down and, a few minutes later, slumps
over in his chair - dead.

The marshal then takes charge of the investigation as the suspects are interrogated. Additional clues and key information are revealed as everyone in attendance is asked to figure out who killed Dusty Jones.
